Let’s face it, we live in the UK and our summers are unpredictable. Some years, our heatwaves don’t last the length of time it takes to eat a Magnum, so what else can you do with that fancy industrial fan you’ve bought? Always keen to help, we've put together a list of five alternative uses for your fan once summer has been and gone. (Please note – this is only a bit of fun and most of these shouldn’t be attempted, but you already knew that, didn’t you?)
Super Quick Hairdryer
So you’ve walked into work and the inevitable happens; you’ve got caught in a downpour and only three minutes to dry yourself off before an important meeting – what should you do? The obvious answer is to get in front of the industrial fan and treat yourself to a total drying experience. It was once said that you should walk 10% faster at work in order to look more important, therefor how much more important are you going to look bursting into a meeting with your hair permanently fixed backwards like you’re attempting the four minute mile? For a bit of variety you could also try drying your hair to the side, for that Simply-Red- Circa-1986 look.
Convenient Pet Dryer
Why stop at just being able to dry yourself? Nobody likes the smell of wet dog, so why not treat your canine companion to an industrial air dry when the need arises? Judging by how much they like putting their heads out of car windows, you should be on to a winner.
Recreating 80’s Music Videos
No self-respecting music video was complete in the 80’s without big hair, big tunes and the extra drama caused by trying to sing in a stiff breeze; check out the Bonnie Tyler classic below for the ultimate example. Whilst we can supply the industrial fan, you will need to source your own abandoned church, American Football players and freaky glowing-eyed school children (at the 5.11 mark, if you can get that far).
Hover Chair / Airboat
Anyone of a certain age, who remembers watching Gentle Ben (the everyday stories of a Florida boy and his friendly brown bear) would have had a burning desire to own one of those fantastic fan powered boats they used to travel around the everglades on. Some rudimentary physics sketched out on a post-it note should reveal that we could recreate this with an office chair, a large warehouse fan, an extension lead, plenty of duct tape and a complete disregard for workplace health and safety.
Tidying your Desk
If you’re anything like me, then you’ll have a desk that attracts paperwork like ants to a jam factory. How satisfying would it be to be able to clear all that troublesome paperwork off your desk with the cleansing breeze of a fan? It also brings the added advantage of taking with it any crumbs, unfinished drinks and anything else not over a kilo in weight or Blu-tacked down. Instant order from the chaos.
If you need an industrial fan for sensible and intended uses, then luckily we can also help with that. Click here to see our range of fans, or call us on 03333 316 083.
